Collins Development Co
From their first 90 suite hotel to Dixon's larger hydro projects, owner and President, Dixon and his wife, Kathy Collins, bring their passion for combining form and function to their work at Saddle Creek. Their move to the Copperopolis - Angels Camp area in 1999, and their development of homes at Saddle Creek, is an extension of their work in the hospitality industry in general - and the Spa industry in particular.

Dixon Collins-PresidentMr. Collins began his building career in the hospitality industry in 1965 when he designed, constructed, owned and operated, the Punta Chivato Hotel, a 90 suite luxury hotel, spa and fishing resort in Baja California, Mexico.

Subsequent projects included development of hydroelectric projects in Oregon and Pakistan, and the expansion of Two Bunch Palms in Desert Hot Springs, CA with planning for a convention center, day spa, hotel and condominiums. Two Bunch Palms enjoys an excellent reputation as a haven for celebrities, screen-writers and novelists.

In 1987 to 1996 Collins owned and operated the Skylonda Retreat in Woodside, CA whose innovative programs gained international recognition and created significant changes throughout the spa industry. During this period Collins served as a Board member of the International Spa Association serving as Chair of the Marketing Committee, and as a member of both the Strategic Planning and Benefits Committees.

As a result of these, and many other projects, Mr. Collins' expertise in both the hotel/spa and tourism/hospitality industry has been sought out by both Hotel and Destination Spa developers over the past several years.

In 1999 Collins founded Collins Development Co, a consulting and construction firm that contracts to build custom and spec homes at the Saddle Creek Development in Calaveras County, CA. Collins Development Co provides "turn key" services including; feasibility, financing, design, engineering, construction, and sales of single family homes.

Kathy Collins-Interior DesignKathy Collins has worked as a professional Interior Designer for most of her 25 years in the Design Industry. Her passion, "bringing beauty into everyday life," has been evident in all that she has accomplished. Having worked with companies of all sizes, her career and areas of expertise have spanned many facets of the Interior Design Industry, and include: commercial, healthcare and residential design, design marketing and management, interior product sales, contract furniture, and executive search. Additionally Kathy spent several years in the design, construction and operation of Skylonda Retreat in Woodside, California.

Kathy brings to Collins Development Co a sensitivity to the practical needs of every homeowner, as well as aesthetic sensibilities developed over years of experience in the field of interior design and spa management. Through her knowledge and experience, Kathy has the unique ability to take her clients vision and develop it into a workable and beautiful end product.

Kathy is a member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and is also a licensed real estate broker. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
